Chocolate Mousse is one of the most popular of recent trending meals in the world. It’s easy, it is quick, it tastes delicious. It’s enjoyed by millions every day. Chocolate Mousse is something that I’ve loved my entire life. They’re fine and they look fantastic.

To begin with this recipe, we have to prepare a few components. You can cook chocolate mousse using 6 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you cook that.

The ingredients needed to make Chocolate Mousse:
  1. Take 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  2. Prepare 1/4 cup water
  3. Get 4 oz (4 squares) unsweetened chocolate
  4. Make ready 1 tbsp strong brewed coffee
  5. Make ready 3 egg whites
  6. Make ready 4 oz whipped topping

I like semi-sweet chocolate but if you prefer your mousse with a darker chocolate flavor, use bittersweet. Remember, the higher the cacao percentage, the less sweet the chocolate.. This makes it the perfect make-ahead dessert! While chocolate mousse is just fine all on its own, you can fancy it up by adding a dollop of whipped cream to each dish before serving.

Instructions to make Chocolate Mousse:
  1. In a small saucepan, combine 3/4 cup sugar & water. Bring to a simmer, stirring, until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat.
  2. Add the chocolate. Whisk until mixture is completely melted & smooth. Whisk in coffee. Pour in large bowl & set aside.
  3. In medium mixing bowl, using an electric mixer set on high speed, beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually beat in remaining sugar until stiff, but not dry, peaks form.
  4. Whisk 1/4 of beaten egg whites into chocolate mixture. Fold in remaining whites, then the whipped topping.
  5. Pour mousse into dessert dishes. Cover with plastic wrap & chill for at least 4 hrs. Can garnish with additional whipped topping, berries, or walnuts, if desired.

Chill metal mixing bowl and mixer beaters in freezer. In top of a double boiler, combine chocolate chips, coffee, rum and butter. The word "mousse" is French for foam, and that's a pretty good way to describe this dessert! It's airy and light as a cloud, with tons of little bubbles and a texture that just melts on the tongue. The chocolate flavor is rich and intense, which is such an interesting contrast with the frothy, light texture.
